Kyrgyzstan Climate Overview

Kyrgyzstan has a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. The weather varies significantly with altitude, from hot valleys to snow-capped peaks.

Seasonal Weather

Spring (March - May)

Temperature: 5°C to 20°C (41°F to 68°F)

Conditions: Mild weather, occasional rain

Best for: Hiking, sightseeing, cultural tours

Summer (June - August)

Temperature: 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F)

Conditions: Hot and dry, perfect weather

Autumn (September - November)

Regional Climate Differences

Bishkek (Capital)

Continental climate with hot summers (up to 35°C) and cold winters (-15°C). Best time to visit: May-September.

Issyk-Kul Lake

Milder climate due to the lake effect. Swimming season: June-September. Winter temperatures rarely drop below -5°C.

Tian Shan Mountains

Alpine climate with snow year-round at high altitudes. Temperature drops 6°C per 1000m elevation gain.

Fergana Valley

Warmest region with hot, dry summers (up to 40°C) and mild winters. Ideal for agriculture.
